Presentation

When I had my presentation, I was really nervous to make mistakes. Especially because that English is my second language, I know I'll have heavy accent when I gets really nervous. I started introduce myself to class and going through the slides. I stare at my laptop and reading off them, at the same time trying to cover some material that's not in the power-point.
It would have been better if I didn't get so nervous and felt more content about my presentation. If I'm a grader, I would give myself a 3. I know I didn't make a great presentation but it was not as bad as I thought when I'm walking around asking people what they think about what I presented.
What I would make it better next time will be, trying to cover more stuff not in context, but in my speech.

Identify a section from Blogging that can be related to your essay and discuss it in this week's entry.

"There are many reasons to blog. in general, blogging is a way of communication directly with customers without having to use the media as an intermediary."(142, Blogging). This can be related to my topic because the blog that I'm researching on is a organization blog even though I'm trying to look at a individuals writing, we can still see a person's personality from other people's description.

What changes do you intend to make to your essay based on feedback in the writing conference?

After the conference, I had a better idea on how to construct my essay. We look over the details and the logic of each group member. In my essay, there was error’s on the structure, for example, some examples or quotations do not go alone with the commentary, or the commentary does not relate to the thesis. I rewrite everything but the introduction paragraph. I put down definition of blog and how blog can identify characteristics and personality on the first body paragraph. Later on I explain how the blog can be related to a person’s life style. The conference gave me a better direction of the logic toward the essay.

what I hope to learn from blogging

One’s identity is found throughout the writing of blogs. A blog is a website of articles on certain topics; analyzing through them, we can find how one person is related to our community. Author of the book Blogging, Jill Walker Rettberg, argues that a blog reveals a person’s thoughts, unsecure societies backgrounds, and most important first-hand reports events.
Looking at the topic of World Marketing will show how a blog can be influential to the community; a good example will be the Trump blog. Trump is a successful businesses man who owns series of real estate. One can look through his tips for how to become more successful. We can find that his blogs are usually written by himself and other marketing experts. Most articles are about facts the most recent marketing chances around the globe. This can cause the audience to pay close attention to what a successful money-making person said and follow his information.
“Eisenstein numbers six features of print that caused changes in our culture: dissemination, standardization, reorganization, data collection, preservation, amplification and reinforcement.”(37), blogging has most at the amplification and preservation because blog is viewed by millions of people and we can read through the analysis to re-think our next step. “Blogs and the social publishing and communication forms that have developed on the web are part of this larger picture of communication and publishing through the ages” (56), the author stated that blog is a new term of communication which will also increase the speed of process in the business world too.

"Blogging" by Jill Walker Rettberg review

In the book Blogging by Jill Walker Rettberg, author analysis what blog really means to the world. It is a new communication tool that we use to write and view the society’s viewpoint freely on some particular object or event. As he stated in the book, that internet never forgets, some information one person will stay forever. Rettberg argues if that bloggers are journalist. Most blogger think themselves are not, but just some writers that wants to express their mind freely. “In twentieth-century democratic societies, people wishing to have their words and ideas published or broadcast had to contend with editorial policies that were generally based on ideology of on what advertisers would support of the public buy.”(84).
Bloggers use the blogs to create the self that they actually want to become. It is never sure if the narrators the audience is reading is a real person or not; one can be completely made up by talented writer who fools almost everyone. “whether they are fictional or not, narratives in blogs differ in several ways from traditional print or cinematic narratives.”(126).

interests and consider type of blog I want to study

When we read an article, we usually want to read our interested subjects. I consider World Issue as the subject I want to study. I’m always interested on the issues around the world politically and economically.
I want to learn more about the interesting facts of global economy that might be beneficial in the future. Most philosopher try to convey people that life is not all about money and happiness is reachable without being financial supported. It is true that we can get happiness from what we think “love” is. Love is defined differently from each person. We sometimes defined that love is about being cared and cared about someone. Not only Love, we also get happiness from chasing a dream. I believe that most people that are reading this article have a dream about living with some amount of wealth. Wealth is defined as “the state of having plenty of money or possessions” (Encarta dictionary). We set our goals in order to have something to fight for, maybe a better life. Most goals will require some amount of wealth to achieve.
I do have some life-term goals. In order to achieve these goals, I have to be financially supported by knowing what is happening globally; one needs to know enough facts to ensure no failure on the investments.

Me as an writter

When I look at myself, I view myself as someone who is trying to figure things out through texts that will convey me with logic and evidence. I’m not a natural English speaker but I believe that I can improve myself through practices.
I do reading a lot but not always in English, sometimes in Chinese. Usually have some light reading before I went to bed if I am not too tired throughout the day. My favorite was reading something narrative that’s written in organized clear thoughts. For example, the book Sorrow of War by Bao Minh was not a great book for me because the timeline and events of the book was never clear; my favorite book was Kindred by Octavia E. Butler I read over summer.
I often find that writing an analysis essay after reading a book always helps me understand better in literature. I challenge myself with reading books that are beyond my level of the language. I overcome the challenges with doing some research on the internet and reading reviews from other reader. When reading about certain historic events, it is always easier to understand what the author is trying to convey the audience by doing some research on the event.
When I can find what I’m looking for, I usually turn to my tutors at the tutoring center. They always give me a hand on what I should do with the essay by showing some other pieces of writings. I view writing is a way of art that can express myself through the letters. There is a difference between a speech and writing. One can do editing and changes before publishing a paper. I do blogging when I have some thoughts that I want to share with others. I like to attach pictures to the blogs and my comments to share my views at some certain events.
As a writer, I usually write for school assignments and emails. School assignments can vary from couple sentences to essay that are as long as fifteen pages. When I’m writing an analysis paper, I usually try to view the object being analyzed from multiple perspectives and avoiding bias. I imagine myself as an editor that is trying to give back some feedback to the author.
As I stated earlier, I am not a natural English speaker; I moved to states when I was thirteen. It wasn’t easy when I don’t know what was going on most of the time in class. I improved a lot from studying the vocabularies and reading literature. I love challenging classes because I view these challenges as a lesson that would make my life easier later. I’m a reader, writer, and critical thinker that love to learn through challenges.
